Born in Princeton, John F. McCarthy Jr. earned the Bronze Star and five major campaign
ribbons as a U.S. Army Captain during World War II. He started his law career in 1948 and served as
the Borough of Princeton's attorney from 1958 to 1961 and later served as the attorney for Plainsboro
Township's Board of Adjustment from 1963 to 1969. The New Jersey Supreme Court appointed him to the
Mercer County Bar Ethics Committee from 1969 to 1971.
From 1970 through 1988 John F. McCarthy, Jr., was a member of the New Jersey State Commission of Investigation,
serving as chairman from 1971 to 1973. For 18 years, from 1970 through 1988 he served as a director of Princeton
Bank. He also is a former Director of the Nassau Savings and Loan Association and the Princeton Bank and Trust
Company. McCarthy also is a founder of Friendly Sons of St. Patrick of Mercer County, the organization's 1981
Honoree and a former president of the Princeton Democratic Club.

A lifelong Princeton resident and third-generation Princeton attorney, John F. ("Jack")
McCarthy, III has practiced law in Princeton for more than 30 years, with an emphasis in
estate planning, probate, real estate and business law, representing closely held businesses
and individuals in commercial transactions and estate matters.
Jack McCarthy was graduated from Princeton University with highest honors in history, winning
the Phelps Prize for the best European History thesis and also winning a National Science
Foundation grant. He was a goalkeeper on Princeton's varsity soccer team for two years and
a member of the university's Ivy Club.
After receiving his J.D. from The University of Pennsylvania Law School, where he was a member
of the Sharswood Law Club, Jack McCarthy, III practiced law with a New Jersey firm in
Newark and then served as an Assistant Deputy Public Advocate for the N.J. Division of Rate
Counsel. He was a director and shareholder of a Princeton law firm for more than 25
years before joining the McCarthy Law Office with his father, John F. McCarthy, Jr.
Jack McCarthy, III is a member of the Bedens Brook Club, the Nassau Club, The Princeton Club
of New York, The Tournament Players Club of Princeton and Royal Dublin Society. In November 2009,
he was named by the Irish Voice to the Irish Legal 100, a list of the top 100 Irish attorneys
and judges.

After receiving her J.D. from Harvard Law School, Joyce Chen Shueh clerked for the Hon.
Morton I. Greenberg on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. Later she served
as a litigation associate at Latham & Watkins LLP and Dechert LLP.
A Princeton resident, Joyce Chen Shueh brings a wide range of litigation and business
experience to the McCarthy Law Office. She resides with her husband and young son in
Princeton.
